Another night race on the Formula 1 calendar is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It first started out in 2007 as a free event. The first official race on the Formula 1 calendar was held in 2009 at the Yas Marina Circuit. It was designed by Hermann Tilke and became the first day to night race. The race typically starts at 17:00 local time and floodlights are used to light up the circuit from the beginning of the event to the end.
